Ameera Zumla
Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Bsc, Msc, DClinPsych
Dr Zumla is a certified Consultant Clinical Psychologist, registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS), Health Professionals Council (HCPC) and Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
She completed her Masters in Health Psychology at the University of Nottingham, and then trained and worked in a number of regional and tertiary Hospitals (including Birmingham and Manchester Children’s Hospital) and clinics in the United Kingdom, as part of her intensive Clinical Psychology Doctoral training at the University of Manchester. She has over 20 years of experience in the NHS, in all areas of clinical psychology and has been working at the private and elite Spire Leicester Hospital since 2018. She has the relevant qualifications to draw upon a range of integrative evidence-based models (according to the NICE guidelines) including: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Autism assessments (ADOS 2), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Family therapy (systemic approaches), Health Psychology/well-being, Mindfulness, Triple-P positive parenting, and Early Bird.
She currently specialises and provides:
- Assessments of Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and cognitive psychology
- Health well-being, health and medical psychology
- Mental health, Anxiety, Depression, OCD, eating issues, body image and self-esteem/confidence, School avoidance, learning difficulties.
Dr Zumla is incredibly passionate about sharing her knowledge with others, and as such has been teaching and training at the University of Leicester Doctoral programme for over 15 years (also on their monthly diversity panel), teaches Qualified Consultants and GP’s, and teachers / students across a variety of schools across Leicester and Leicestershire. She has also been invited to support the Patient Participation Group (PPG) across the GP surgeries in Leicester.
